Dr. C.R. Chandrashekhar
Dr. C.R. Chandrashekhar is a senior faculty member of National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences, Bangalore since 1975. In addition to his responsibilities of teaching, training and research, he has been actively involved in dissemination of information about mental health, hospitals, health professionals, treatment methods, etc., with the objective of stimulating scientific temper, dispelling misconceptions and inducing correct attitudes towards mental disorders. He is a regular columnist in 'Mangala', a Kannada weekly and has written over 850 popular science articles in different magazines and periodicals. He has published 96 books in Kannada and 15 in English, several of these books have been translated into Urdu and Telugu. He is a sought after speaker by medical, educational, industrial and non-governmental institutions and has conducted over 100 discussions/ dialogues every year and delivered over1000 popular science lectures. He has given talks over radio and interviews on television on different aspects of behavioral sciences.
He is the founder member of Kannada Vaidya Sahitya Parishad, which encourages writing of popular medical literature. He has been decorated by several organizations including the 'Hari 0m Trust Award' for contributions to Science & Society by University Grants Commission and 'Kannada Vaidya Sahitya Rachna Ratna' title by Kannada Sangha, Karnataka.
